Electronics in public safety vehicles are more complex than ever before. Today’s vehicles act more like mobile field centers, complete with powerful computers, broadband data, video cameras and a host of specialized surveillance and high technology apparatus. Complex systems are not exclusive to squad cars, either. They are being installed in motorcycles, boats, aircraft, SWAT vehicles, buses and others.

In order for all of the electronics to work in conjunction with one another, external considerations need to be made prior to installation. We’ve created a radio equipment installation check list that includes the location of equipment; software systems and any hardware upgrades that may be required; and configuration management that includes tracking software licenses, serial numbers and IP addresses. Good planning eliminates costly surprises, improves efficiencies and, ultimately, enhances your public safety efforts.
