Happenings - 3rd Quarter, 2010 |
|
As
the Recovery gains momentum throughout the United States,
we have seen the welcome sign of increased activity
from many segments within the sphere of public safety
communications. 800MHz Rebanding projects are moving
well through the actual implementation stage. For example,
TCS recently concluded coverage testing for St Tammany's
rebanded EDACS trunked radio network. Subscriber user
programming has been competed for Harrison County, Mississippi
and deployment of a new EDACS simulcast network is nearing
the halfway point for Pasco County, Florida. And many
more 800MHz rebanding projects are gaining traction
and heading toward completion.
In
this recently concluded quarter, TCS has secured several
new, important communications projects. TCS was been
awarded a contract to assist the City of New Bern, North
Carolina and its procurement and implementation of a
Project-25 simulcast radio network. We were selected
by the City of Jacksonville to evaluate P-25 vendor
proposal submittals and by the City of Fort Lauderdale
to assess an unsolicited radio modernization proposal.
And, we are pleased to report that TCS was selected
by Gordon County, Georgia to assist in their development
of FCC-compliant narrowband solutions and ultimately
the implementation of a 700/800MHz Project-25 simulcast
radio network.
A
major new system implementation for Kansas City, Missouri
(KCMO) is well underway. Factory staging of KCMO's expansive
nine-site, 24-channel simulcast trunked radio network
(one that will serve over 7,000 radio users) has been
successfully concluded and construction of three new
tower sites is scheduled to commence in mid November.
Along those same lines, TCS was selected by Cass County,
Missouri to complete a needs assessment for their eventual
deployment of an advanced digital radio network.
Motorola
Factory, Schaumburg, IL

In
closing out this Quarter's Report, TCS was selected
by ShipCom - a provider of maritime radio services -
as their public safety radio communications consultant.
ShipCom had been granted an FCC Rule Waiver whereby
high frequency (HF) voice and electronic mail services
can now be provided to emergency operations centers,
facilities and personnel. Much more information on ShipCom
and this new life-safety service can be found in the
current issue of the Backscatter
Journal, our web magazine.
As
we enter the fourth quarter of a very challenging year,
on behalf of the firm's entire consultant team we thank
our many clients and friends for their steadfast support
and encouragement. |
